Mel Helsby FCA
Mel is a qualified Chartered Accountant with nearly 20 years experience of auditing and provision of compliance services.
Mel qualified with a top 7 firm, and in 2017 joined ICAEW as a reviewer in their Quality Assurance Department (QAD). Since 2021 Mel has been providing her services to ICAEW as an independent consultant, enabling her to also offer her services to accountancy firms and those providing audit services to assist them with their mandatory compliance and enable them to learn from her experiences at QAD.
During her time at QAD Mel has been responsible for monitoring visits to all sizes of firm, from the sole practitioner operating from home, to the Big 4. She specialises in audit monitoring services, but also has extensive experience of providing Practice Assurance monitoring (covering compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering regulations, Clients Money Regulations, Professional Indemnity Insurance regulations, Provision of Services regulations and more), compliance with ATOL requirements as well as the specific laws and regulations applicable to those auditing in Ireland.
Mel is passionate about working with firms and audit teams of all sizes to help them comply with the ISAs, Ethical Standard and Audit Regulations, imparting her years of experience in undertaking risk based proportionate reviews to help teams find efficient and effective approaches to ongoing compliance.
